Nymphai (Niemfé) were female nature spirits which populated the universe of Greek mythology. They presided over several natural phenomena: from trees and rivers, to clouds, beaches and seasons. Nymphai were mainly taking care of the plants and the animals of their domain while they were closely associated with prime gods of nature such as Hermes, Artemis, Poseidon and Demeter. |
